Hyderabad, Aug.8 (Maxim News): Telangana Health Minister Etela Rajender today urged the Centre to support the State schemes of health with adequate funds. He called on Union Health Minister Harsha Vardhan in Delhi today and briefed him on plans to develop health facilities in the Telangana State, including super specialty blocks in Gandhi Hospital in Secunderabad and Niloufer Hospital in Hyderabad and sought funds for extending health services in the districts. Harsha Vardhan said the Centre would help modernize hospitals in the old districts in the State and would also consider providing funds for other health services.
Talking to mediapersons later, Rajender said he urged the Centre to provide funds for a variety of health facilities in the State. “In addition to setting up of super specialty blocks in Gandhi and Niloufer Hospitals, we have appealed to the Union minister to help set up Medical Colleges in Khammam and Karimnagar district headquarters”, he said. He also urged the Centre to upgrade hospitals in the new districts and upgrade health camps in the villages as wellness centers. The minister said the funds from the Centre will enable the State to improve health services for the poor in the districts and towns.
“In addition to AIMS construction, science research center, we sought setting up of trauma care centers on the highways. The Centre was urged to cooperate with the State for KCR Kits scheme”.
When talked about the NMC Bill, the Union minister said it will do good for medical professions, he added. Rajender said that Kakatiya Medical College in Warangal and RIMS specialty blocks will be opened in Adilabad, he said, adding that PG medical students can write examinations for several years to get eligibility.
