Ashwathama Hints At Calling Off Strike
Hyderabad, Nov.12 (Maxim News): Reacting to High Court suggestion to form a committee of retired judges of Supreme Court to find a solution to the RTC strike, TSRTC employees unions’ JAC Convener E Ashwathama Reddy hinted at calling off the strike in conformity with the Court orders and committee’s decision.
“We are ready to heed the Court’s directive”, he said and hoped for time-bound solution to the strike. He told the media that the RTC employees were ready to obey court orders.
Earlier, the court asked the counsel to reply by Wednesday afternoon on this judicial committee. The RTC strike over merger demand reached 39th day on Wednesday. The court said it cannot term the RTC strike illegal as sought by the State government. The Court said the judicial committee will take a call by talking to both the JAC Unions, RTC Management and the State government on the RTC strike.
While Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was not ready for talks on the merger demand of the striking workers, the High Court declined to impose ESMA on RTC stir as it was done in 1998 and 2015 and asked them to move Consumer forum on hefty collection of charges in the buses. It also said the stay will continue on privatization of 5,100 bus routes. (Maxim News)
