JIPMER/NIMS Appointed As Mentors For Setting Laboratories

Hyderabad, May 13: The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) appointed Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER), Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), as mentor institutes for Telangana for setting up new laboratories to take-up diagnostic tests for coronavirus.

JIPMER, Puducherry is also the mentoring institute for Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry. The JIPMER and NIMS will provide technical guidance to laboratories that are wishing to start coronavirus diagnostic tests in Telangana.

‘These institutes are mandated to review the requests for approving any new laboratory for COVID testing,” ICMR said.
