Woman Gets life Imprisonment for Murder in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: A local court in LB Nagar on Monday sentenced a woman to life imprisonment in a murder for gain case reported in Meerpet four years ago. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 4,000 on her.
The convicted person is Ch Yadamma (34), a private employee from Girmapur village of Medchal mandal.
In March 2016, Yadamma along with her husband Balasubramanyam, an auto-rickshaw driver murdered Nagalakshmi (60), a resident of Badangpet in Meerpet and stole her jewelry.
Balasubramanyam used to pick and drop the school-going granddaughter of Nagalakshmi and had eyed the elderly woman’s jewelry during his frequent visits to the house.
With the intention of stealing Nagalakshmi’s jewelry, he sought his wife’s help. The couple then went to the elderly woman’s house asking for Rs 2,000 as a financial help. When she went inside to get the money, they followed her inside and overpowered her. They strangled her and smashed her head on the ground, killing her on the spot, after which they fled with the gold jewelry she was wearing.
The Meerpet police booked a case of murder for gain and took Yadamma into custody. She confessed to the killing. Balasubramanyam is still absconding.
Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat appreciated the efforts of the police and the public prosecution in securing conviction and announced a reward for them.
