Hyderabad, Aug.27 (Maxim News): Telangana high court today slammed the government for giving costly land at cheap price to film director N Shankar for the proposed film city.
Hearing a petition on the land row the court sought the government as to how it offers Rs 2.5 cr worth land to a paltry Rs 25 lakhs. The court ruled out giving lands at low prices to film industry people.
The government can construct a film city instead the court observed. The court said that the government cannot give wrong signal and cabinet decisions should have some rationality.
The high court said that what is the need for another film city when there is a world famous Ramoji Film City. It is not correct to give costly lands at lower rates to anyone the court felt.
The government counsel said that Shankar played a key role in statehood movement and the land allocation is made. On this the court objected saying that the government cannot give or allot the lands to many such people. The court adjourned the case by two weeks. (Maxim News)
