Hyderabad, May 21: The Telangana government has announced a major hike in minimum wages for workers across the state, benefiting nearly 1.11 crore labourers from June 1.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Labour Minister Vivek Venkataswamy announced the revised wage structure on Wednesday.
The government said the decision was taken to protect workers’ rights and improve their financial security.
Telangana Minimum Wages Revised From June 1
The state government classified workers into different categories based on skill levels and regions. Workers were divided into corporation, municipal and rural zones, along with unskilled, semi skilled and skilled categories.

Under the revised structure, minimum wages in Zone 1 were increased from Rs 12,750 to Rs 16,000 for unskilled workers. Wages for skilled workers were raised from Rs 13,772 to Rs 18,500, while semi skilled workers in Zone 1 will now receive Rs 17,000 instead of Rs 13,592.
Speaking on the occasion, Revanth Reddy said the Congress government fulfilled a long pending demand that was not addressed during the previous BRS government.

He stated that a sub committee on minimum wages was formed after the Congress came to power and added that the revised wages would directly benefit workers across Telangana.
The Chief Minister confirmed that the increased minimum wages will come into effect from June 1.
