Islamabad, May 21: Hamza Burhan, identified as a key accused linked to the 2019 Pulwama terror attack, was reportedly shot dead by unidentified assailants in Muzaffarabad in Pakistan occupied Kashmir.
According to reports, Hamza Burhan was attacked in a firing incident and died on the spot after sustaining serious injuries.
Authorities have not yet issued an official statement regarding the identity of the attackers or the motive behind the killing.
Hamza Burhan Linked to 2019 Pulwama Attack
Hamza Burhan, also known as Arjumand Gulzar Dar, was a resident of Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir. He was accused of involvement in the 2019 Pulwama terror attack that killed more than 40 CRPF personnel.
In 2022, the Union Home Ministry declared him a terrorist.
The Pulwama attack took place on February 14, 2019, near Lethipora in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district. A suicide bomber rammed an explosives laden vehicle into a CRPF convoy travelling on the Jammu Srinagar National Highway.
The Pakistan based terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed had claimed responsibility for the attack. The outfit is led by Masood Azhar.
The incident had triggered nationwide outrage and led to heightened tensions between India and Pakistan.
