Govt Received Proposal To Build Godowns With 40 Lakh Metric Tonnes: Niranjan
Hyderabad, Sept.14 (Maxim News): State Agriculture Minister Niranjan Reddy Today said that there was a proposal before the state government to build 40 lakh metric tonnes in Telangana. He made these remarks while replying to questions raised by the members of the hour during question hour in the ongoing assembly session of the house.
He said that the state had 176 godowns with a capacity of 4.17 lakh metric tonnes. He said that they had set up 452 godowns with a capacity of 17.20 lakh metric tonnes after the formation of Telangana state. Citing that try agriculture produce is going up in the state every year, he said that the state government was going ahead to build godowns to meet the growing needs. Reddy said that the state already has godowns with a capacity of 60 lakh metric tonnes. He said that barring paddy, all other crops need godown space and added that they were planning to build godowns with a capacity of 40 lakh metric tonnes to store the other crops. He said that he had issued orders to the chief secretary of the state and all the district collectors to acquire land for the construction of the godowns. (Maxim News)
