Telangana: Congress Aims To Win 79 Seats In 2023 Elections

Sangareddy, October 2: The Congress party on Friday unveiled Vision 2023 to achieve its goal of winning at least 79 seats in next Assembly elections to come to power in Telangana State.

This was announced by AICC Incharge Manickam Tagore, along with Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President U& MP Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, who participated in Kisan Mazdoor Bachao Diwas at Sangareddy as part of Congress party’s nationwide agitation against the three new agricultural laws introduced by BJP Government.

Addressing the meeting, Manickam Tagore said that the ‘Vision 2023′ was unveiled in Sangareddy as this was the place from where former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi filed her nomination papers to contest for Medak Lok Sabha constituencies in 1980. He hoped that Sangareddy would turn lucky again for the Congress party and it would come to power in 2023. He expressed confidence that the next CM of Telangana would be a Congress leader and also assured that Sangareddy MLA Jagga Reddy would be a cabinet minister. “When Congress party could fight and defeat British to get freedom for the country, it is not difficult for us to beat KCR in the next elections,” he said.

Tagore said that Congress president Sonia Gandhi granted statehood for Telangana to ensure that all sections of the society benefit from a new State. However, he said except for Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao and his family, no one benefitted from the formation of Telangana. Stating that the original dream of Telangana has remained unrealised, he alleged that CM KCR and his family were accumulating huge wealth illegally and soon he might become richer than Mukesh Ambani. While Mukesh Ambani is earning money doing business, KCR is earning money by taking commissions, he alleged.

The AICC Incharge appealed to the people to think about their future and defeat TRS in next elections. He said people should not get lured with Rs. 1,000 or Rs. 2,000 which TRS leaders were paying to get their votes. Instead, they should vote for the Congress party to ensure a bright future for their children.

Speaking about the new agricultural laws, he alleged that Prime Minister Narender Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have mortgaged the interest of farmers before the corporators like Ambanis and Adanis.

Speaking on the occasion, Uttam Kumar Reddy appealed to the Congress cadre to work hard to bring the Congress party to power in 2023.

He alleged that the lives of farmers were ruined ever since BJP came to power at the Centre and TRS in Telangana State. He said that the new farm laws were aimed at benefiting the corporate sections. He said that the new laws have made Minimum Support Price (MSP) irrelevant and there was no binding on the corporate sector to procure agriculture produce at MSP. He demanded that the Central Government immediately withdraw the controversial laws and address the concerns of the farming community.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Congress party has launched a signature campaign and it would collect more than two crore signatures from across the country. These signatures would be submitted to the President of India by Congress president Sonia Gandhi on November 14. He informed that as part of nationwide agitation, protests have been held across Telangana State on Friday, to pressurise the Central Government to withdraw the contentious farm laws.

He reiterated the demand that CM KCR convene a special session of Legislative Assembly to pass a unanimous resolution against the new agricultural laws and override those laws under Articles 254 (2) of the Constitution of India. He said KCR needed to prove his opposition to the new laws by his action and not by just words.

The TPCC described CM KCR as a betrayer of farmers. He slammed the Chief Minister for not honouring the promise of waiving off crop loans upto Rs. 1 lakh. He said none of the promises made by KCR with the farming community have been fulfilled. He said that there has been a rise in farmers’ suicides ever since TRS came to power in Telangana in 2014. However, he said that the TRS leaders were shamelessly seeking votes in Dubbak by-elections and other civic elections. He asked the party cadre to expose the failures of TRS Government before the public. (Maxim News)
