Massive Spike: Telangana registers 1913 new Covid cases
Hyderabad, Jan 06: The massive surge in daily Covid-19 positive cases driven by the Omicron variant of SARS-CoV-2 in Telangana has continued with health authorities on Thursday reporting 1913 positive cases out of which 1214 positive infections were from areas under GHMC.
The Omicron variant Covid infections are also registering a significant increase in other urban centers of Telangana with 161 positive infections in Medchal-Malkajgiri and 213from Rangareddy district.
Health officials have also reported two fatalities on Thursday, which has taken the overall number of deaths in TS to 4, 036. The total number of positive cases so far in Telangana has reached 6, 87, 456 while the number of active cases as on Thursday was 7, 847.
The authorities on Thursday conducted 54, 534 Covid tests of which results of 7, 365 samples were awaited. A total of 232 individuals have recovered with a recovery rate of 98.27 per cent on Thursday.
So far, a total of 2, 99, 37, 675 Covid-19 tests have been conducted in the State out of which 6, 87, 456 have tested positive and 6, 75, 573 persons have recovered.
