Drug users, vendors will be dealt with iron hand: Talasani

Hyderabad, Feb.24 (Maxim News): Animal Husbandry & Cinematography Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav today warned that stern action will be taken against the drug users and sellers. He attended a program of awareness on the loss of lives by using drugs and contraband items. Cases are on to take action against the drug sellers and users in the State. “We are not allowing any one to use the contraband and the people should be careful”, he warned.

Speaking on the occasion the minister exhorted the youths to focus on studies and reach their goals. He said the State government will not spare anyone if found guilty of using or selling the drugs and contrabands. “No person involved in such crimes will be spared by the officials as we have asked them to act tough”, he reiterated. He said the students and youths should focus on their studies and careers as normalcy attained after the corona pandemic and related waves.

“Still we have to follow corona protocols to keep at bay the infections”, the minister said. Srinivas Yadav appealed to the parents to keep an eye on their children and avoid using drugs as it will lead to loss of lives and everything. He hoped that the parents will take care of the children, who should focus on studies. He said the State government has taken all measures to push the students for better quality education with more facilities.

      Hyderabad Police Commissioner C V Anand was present at the anti-drug awareness campaign conducted by North Zone Police of Hyderabad City at Begumpet. The CP said, “We are going with a multi-pronged strategy to counter drugs menace. We are conducting awareness programs through various platforms and also take up strict enforcement through the H-NEW wing, a first of its kind, in the State. We have identified hotspots and actively intervening in these hotspots. Fear takes over parents when their children step out of house for a party. Many youngsters often opt for instant gratification through drugs and peer pressure is the main reason behind this. Once you choose drugs you leave your career, family, and all the good things behind. All the youngsters should widespread  “Say No to Drugs” message in their communities.” Anand concluded.

The event concluded with unveiling anti-drugs message posters and the CP administered pledge to youth to play an active role in fighting against drug abuse.
