CM slams Centre’s partiality to TS on paddy purchase; Ministers, TRS MPs to protest in Parl

Hyderabad, March 21 (Maxim News): TRS supremo K Chandrasekhar Rao today lashed out at the Centre for adopting partiality towards the Telangana State to procure paddy. “On the lines of the paddy procurement from Punjab, the Centre should procure Yasangi paddy and grains from the State,” he demanded and warned of protests at the national level.

The Chief Minister said a team of Telangana ministers will go to Delhi and meet with the Union Agriculture Minister to mount pressure on paddy procurement. KCR demanded that the Centre should bring out a national procurement policy through parliament to make amendments to the Constitution and protect States’ rights and address the demands. It will help achieve food security and supply the food grains to all States, he hoped.

KCR held a meeting of TRS Legislature Party at Telangana Bhavan at 11.30 am with party district presidents, chiefs of Zilla Parishads, DCCBs, DCMS and others. The Chief Minister directed that the party leaders should send unanimous resolutions demanding that the Centre procure Yasangi paddy from the State and send the same to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “When the Centre procures Punjab paddy, why not the paddy and grains from our State?”, KCR asked during the meeting with the party leaders. He asked them to fight and expose the misdeeds of the Centre.

Speaking to media persons later, the Chief Minister warned that the State government expects that the Centre will procure our grains from the State. “Else we will launch Statewide and nationwide protests to mount pressure on the Centre in this regard. The State governments and public have every right as per the Constitution for their demands and rights, KCR said. He demanded that the Centre bring up a national procurement policy to ensure that the demands and rights of all States should be met. He urged the Prime Minister and Union Agriculture Minister to make an amendment to the Constitution through the parliament session and we will support. If not, the TRS Government and its leaders and people will fight for their rights and demands, he declared.

The Chief Minister instructed all the legislators, Party State Executive Committee Members, District Presidents, ZP Chairpersons, Presidents of DCCBs, DCMS and District Presidents of Raithu Bandhu Samithies to join the fight. He said the meeting will chalk out a plan to hold dharnas, agitations and protests demanding the Union Government to buy Yasangi paddy in the state. (Maxim News)
