No curbs on paddy cultivation: Niranjan

Hyderabad, April 21 (Maxim News): Agriculture Minister Niranjan Reddy has informed that there was no restriction on the cultivation of paddy for the ensuing agriculture season and however, appealed to farmers to focus on profitable crops rather than the traditional paddy cultivation.

In a press release, Agriculture Minister Niranjan Reddy said despite the fact that the Union government was refusing to procure the paddy produced in Telangana, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has decided to purchase the entire paddy of the Yasangi season. “Chief Minister KCR thinks about the welfare of farmers and always dreams to make the agriculture as the profit making sector. That’s why the Chief Minister has come forward to purchase the entire paddy even though the Union government has refused to purchase it,” Niranjan Reddy said.

Niranjan Reddy said even though the paddy is a traditional crop in Telangana State, there are several other crops which reap good benefits to the farmers. Farmers should focus on profitable crops and can start cultivation in their respective areas.

Stating that those farmers, who have cultivated crops like cotton, pulses and other commercial crops have reaped good benefits this season and are earning a good amount of income, Niranjan Reddy appealed to other farmers to explore other opportunities in the change of crop cultivation and to focus on profitable crops.
