Army swings into action to help flood-hit Bhadrachalam

Hyderabad, July 15 (Maxim News): With the river Godavari receiving above the danger mark of flood water at Bhadrachalam, the State government has taken the help of Indian Army to speed up the rehabilitation process in the flood affected Bhadradri district .

As per the directions of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar have spoken to the Army officials and requested them to extend their assistance.

The Army officials promptly responded to the request of State government and deputed a team of 101 members comprising 68 from Infantry, 10 medical professionals and 23 engineers, who have left for the flood ravaged Bhadradri district.

The above troops will be capable of operating as 5 independent teams.

The Tourism department has dispatched four special boats along with men to Bhadradri district to assist in rescue and relief operations. Fire department has also dispatched seven boats along with 210 life jackets and life boys.

The State government has also deputed senior officer, the MD of Singareni Colleries N Sridhar as special officer to monitor the relief operations in the district.

The infrastructure available with the Singareni Colleries will be pressed into service at Bhadrachalam for flood relief operations.

The Chief Secretary on Friday reviewed the flood situation and asked the officials to ensure that there is no loss of life due to the floods. He is continuously monitoring the situation on an hourly basis. (Maxim News)
