Modi responsible for National Handlooms Day: Bandi Sanjay

Hyderabad, Aug.7 (Maxim News): State BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar today claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was responsible for the organisation of National Handloom Day in the country. He said they exported Rs 8000 worth handloom products to the Arab countries in the world under the BJP government at the Centre.

Bandi Sanjay Kumar said the Central government had extended support to 42,886 weavers of the State in the last eight years under PM Jeevan Jyothi Bhima Yojana, Mahatma Gandhi Bankar Insurance scheme and PM Suraksha Yojana.

Sanjay made these remarks while addressing a gathering at Pochampally as part of his ongoing Praja Sangrama Padayatra. He promised to buy all the products of the weavers after coming into power in the State and added that they would geo tag all handlooms in their party’s rule. He also promised to build houses to all the homeless weavers in the State.

Targeting Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, Bandi alleged that KCR was responsible for the suicides of weavers and called upon them to defeat TRS party in the next Assembly elections. He recalled that the hard work of social activists Vinoba Bhave and Vedire Ramachandra Reddy and leaders like Konda Laxman Bapuji had led to the establishment of weavers’ societies in the State and subsequent creation of livelihood opportunities to them.

He said several weavers were suffering a lot due to the negligence of the handloom sector by the State government. He said 400 weavers had committed suicides in the State after the formation of Telangana State. He alleged that KCR had insulted Telangana Ideologue Professor Jaya Shankar when he was alive.
