Hyderabad BF-7: Telangana Gears Up

Hyderabad BF-7 | Hyderabad, Dec 27 (Maxim News): As part of the National initiative to face the challenge of the new coronavirus variant BF-7, a special mock drill has been organised in Telangana Hospitals to take stock of the preparedness, in case of a surge of Covid infections in the coming months.

In Hyderabad, the mock drill has been conducted at Gandhi Hospital, the district Hospital in king Koti, the Chest Hospital at Erragadda, and the Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) at Gachibowli.

According to Gandhi Hospital Superintendent, Dr. M. Raja Rao said that our healthcare workers have vast experience in handling Covid patients.

In fact, we are the first to successfully treat Covid patients in Telangana. All the necessary medical equipment, including ventilators, beds with the supply of medical oxygen, BiPAP machines, and RT-PCR testing capabilities of our laboratories have been checked.

The mock drill, which was suggested by the Union Health Ministry, has been taken up at all government hospitals which were involved in treating Covid patients in the three Covid waves.

Apart from medical infrastructure, the hospitals have focused on healthcare workers, including nurses, ASHA workers, and ventilator technicians, who earlier had received training in handling Covid cases and played a vital role in the three success waves in Telangana.

All aspects of treating Covid patients, including medical oxygen, essential drugs, ventilators, trained healthcare staff, checking oxygen-generating plants and bed capacity, The exercise aimed at readying our hospital to treat Void patients, Chest Hospital Superintendent Dr. Mahboob Khan said.

Senior Health officials said similar mock drills will be conducted at all tertiary government teaching hospitals, pediatric healthcare facilities, and district hospitals in Telangana today.

It is known that amid the COVID scare in India, the Telangana government geared up for COVID mock drill. The government hospital in Hyderabad took part in a special mock to take stock of the preparedness.

To prevent the shortage of oxygen, the government has established an oxygen production plant with a capacity of 1300 kg in a government hospital in Golconda.

According to hospital technician Shyam Rao, even if 100 patients are hospitalised, the plant has the potential to supply them with oxygen because it has a 1300 kg capacity. The doctors are accessible around-the-clock, and so is the plant that operates 24/7. (Maxim News)
