Warangal/Hyderabad, Oct 9 (Maxim News): The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI-Udai) has come up with a solution to the spelling and linguistic errors in the name, surname and address in Aadhaar cards. Along with changing the name, Udai has made new rules available to correct the errors. It is now very simple to correct spelling errors in the name, surname and address in Aadhaar. Udai has also provided the facility for women to easily change their surname after marriage or divorce.
Moreover, some people who have two names in Aadhaar under aliases have now been given the opportunity to put only one name in Aadhaar that they will use permanently. Even if there are any mistakes in the name, surname, and address… they can go to the Aadhaar center with the specified documents issued by Udai and pay Rs. 75 to get it converted into simple ones. However, if you want to change your name completely, a gazette notification is mandatory.
Minor edits
Minor corrections in the name, surname, and address can be corrected in the minor correction category. Shortening or changing short names, deleting or adding surnames, changing the order of names, and spelling errors that are similar in pronunciation can be corrected in this category. However, it is sufficient to submit any relevant document for these. For example, RK Prasad can be changed to Rayala Krishna Prasad. If there is any identity document, the correction can be made.
In cases of marriage/divorce..
Change of surname for women is required in cases of marriage and divorce. For this, the necessary affidavit (Annexure D) along with the relevant identity document is required. To register the name of the child in place of Baby in the child Aadhaar, identity proof and relationship proof should be submitted. Similarly, to remove the alias/alias, in case of majors, the relevant identity document along with the identity proof and Annexure E affidavit should be submitted. Similarly, in case of minors, the relevant identity document along with the identity proof and relationship proof should be submitted in Annexure-F affidavit.
Errors in data entry..
Even if the correct documents are provided during Aadhaar registration, if the details in the Aadhaar card are incorrect due to typos while entering the details, they can be corrected. For this, adults should submit the relevant affidavit (Annexure B) along with identity proof and relationship proof. A separate minor affidavit (Annexure C) should be submitted for correction of data errors of minors.
Language changes
Aadhaar contains name and address details in Telugu as well as English. However, if the name is correct in English but incorrect in Telugu, it can be corrected by submitting the relevant identity document and affidavit.
Gazette for name change
If the name of a person in Aadhaar is completely changed, then a state government gazette notification is required stating the name change. Those who submit a government gazette notification will have their name changed as per the gazette. However, the name change can be done only once.

In order to change the name, surname, address details (demographic details) in Aadhaar, along with spelling, linguistic errors, changes in surname, one has to go to the Aadhaar Seva Kendra in person with the relevant documents and affidavits. Also, to update these details, after completing biometric authentication, the relevant documents and affidavits are submitted and the corrections are made by paying Rs. 75. After making the corrections at the Aadhaar Seva Kendra, a message will be sent to the mobile within a week to a month as if it has been updated. Also, the Aadhaar card with the corrected errors and mistakes will be sent to the home by post. (Maxim News)
