ACB Caught Mahabubabad AEO While Taking Bribe Of Rs. 10,000
- AEO Sandeep arrested for accepting Rs. 10,000 bribe in Nelakurthi village
- Earlier, Medak DE caught red-handed in separate ACB action
Mahabubabad/Hyderabad, Nov 6 (Maxim News): The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials conducted surprise raids in Mahabubabad district and caught Agriculture Extension Officer (AEO) Sandeep red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 10,000. The operation took place on Thursday in Nelakurthi village of Muripeda mandal as part of routine vigilance to curb corruption in government offices.
According to officials, AEO Sandeep had demanded money from a farmer for implementing the farmer insurance scheme. Acting on a complaint filed by the victim, ACB officials laid a trap and apprehended Sandeep during the transaction. A case has been registered, and the department has begun a detailed investigation into the incident to determine if more people were involved.
Meanwhile, in another major anti-corruption action last week, a Divisional Engineer (DE) of the Medak district TransCo, Sheikh Sharif Chand Bhasha, was also caught taking a bribe. The incident occurred in Papannapet mandal, where a farmer named Papagari Bhaskar from Sita Nagar Thanda had applied for the installation of a 25 KVA transformer for his poultry farm. Officials said the DE demanded Rs. 30,000 to clear the sanction.
Reports stated that the farmer had already paid Rs. 9,000 through PhonePe earlier after being warned that the installation would not proceed without a bribe. When the officer later demanded the remaining amount, the victim informed the ACB. The officials advised him to hand over the cash as agreed, which led to the DE being caught red-handed while receiving Rs. 21,000 on October 30.
The two back-to-back ACB operations in Mahabubabad and Medak highlight the agency’s intensified crackdown on corruption across Telangana. Officials from the ACB have reiterated their commitment to ensuring transparency and have encouraged citizens to report bribery without fear. Both cases have been registered, and investigations are currently underway.
