Hyderabad: A video released by Iranian state television has drawn global attention after showing what the country described as an underground “missile city.” The footage reportedly reveals a large arsenal of drones, missiles, and naval weapons stored in long tunnels. The development comes amid rising tensions following attacks involving the United States and Israel against Iran.

The situation in West Asia has become tense. Meanwhile, maritime activity through the Strait of Hormuz has largely stopped. The route is critical for global oil and gas transport. According to reports, Iran is targeting tankers that carry oil and gas from Gulf countries to other parts of the world. As a result, ships have halted operations in the area.

Iran has reportedly used suicide drones and unmanned boats to stop ships in the region. These boats are filled with explosives and move quickly toward their targets. When they collide with fuel tankers, they explode and cause serious damage. Therefore, several ships transporting oil and gas have faced major risks in the Gulf region.

Underground tunnels show drones and anti ship weapons

The video released by Iranian state television shows long underground tunnels filled with military equipment. In the footage, naval drones, anti ship missiles, and sea mines appear lined up inside the facility. Some parts of the video also show weapons being launched.

According to the broadcast, the location is part of an underground military complex described by Iran as its “missile city.” However, it is not clear when the footage was recorded. It is also unclear whether the location has been identified by American or Israeli forces.

The video reportedly includes scenes showing many suicide drone boats parked in a long bunker. In addition, the footage shows equipment placed beneath a picture of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. One part of the video shows a tunnel containing a naval drone positioned inside the facility.

Naval drones play key role in attacks on tankers

Naval drones, also called unmanned surface vehicles, appear prominently in the footage. These vehicles are small but powerful. They can travel on the sea surface or slightly underwater. They are filled with explosives and explode once they reach their target.

Reports say Iran has used these naval drones against oil tankers in the Persian Gulf. A video circulating on social media shows a small speedboat rushing toward a tanker. It then hits the ship, causing thick smoke and a large explosion.

Officials say Iran has attacked oil tankers in the Gulf twice since the war between the United States, Israel, and Iran began. Naval drones were reportedly used in at least two of those incidents. As tensions continue in the region, the footage from the underground missile facility has intensified global attention on Iran’s military capabilities.
