- CBSE cancels Class 10 and Class 12 exams in West Asia
- Decision affects Iran, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oman and Bahrain
Hyderabad: The Central Board of Secondary Education has cancelled board examinations scheduled in several West Asian countries due to the tense situation in the region. The decision affects exams planned in Iran, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Oman, and Bahrain.
According to the announcement, the Class 12 examinations that were scheduled from March 16 to April 10 have been cancelled. The board also clarified that the Class 10 board examinations, which were postponed earlier, will not be conducted either. The decision comes as tensions continue to rise across West Asia.
The board said it will soon announce the results for affected students. Meanwhile, reports indicate that the results may be prepared using internal assessment records. These may include marks from unit tests, pre board exams, practical work, and project assessments already conducted in schools.
West Asia tensions lead to CBSE exam cancellation
The exam cancellation follows rising tensions in West Asia in recent weeks. According to reports, the situation worsened after joint attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran on February 28. During those attacks, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed.
Following the incident, Iran reportedly began targeting American bases located in Gulf countries as well as Israel. As a result, the region has entered a period of heightened tension. Security concerns and instability have therefore affected normal activities, including school examinations.
Students await result announcement after CBSE decision
The cancellation has directly impacted CBSE students studying in the affected countries. These students were preparing for their final board examinations during the current academic schedule. However, the board decided to cancel the exams in view of the ongoing security situation.
Meanwhile, the board has assured candidates that their results will be announced soon. Reports suggest that the evaluation process may rely on internal academic records already available with schools. These include unit tests, pre board assessments, practical work, and project submissions.
The announcement has created uncertainty among students and parents in the region. However, the board’s decision reflects the serious situation currently unfolding in West Asia. Authorities are expected to provide further updates regarding the result declaration process in the coming days.
