Hyderabad, September 16, 2026: The Association of Consulting Civil Engineers India (ACCE-I), Hyderabad Centre, celebrated Engineers Day 2026 at the IAS Officers Institute in Greenlands, Begumpet, Hyderabad, commemorating the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya.
The event honoured engineering excellence and highlighted the role of civil engineers in nation-building. ACCE(I) Hyderabad also unveiled the brochure and opened registration for RIDES 2026, its upcoming conference scheduled for November.
ACCE(I) is a national professional body representing consulting civil engineers and professionals associated with civil engineering. The 41-year-old organisation has more than 10,000 members across 54 centres, including Hyderabad. It promotes professional excellence, technical advancement, ethical practices, knowledge sharing and collaboration among engineering professionals.
Adepu Kashiram, Secretary General, ACCE(I), was the Chief Guest, while Rajkumar Kacharla, former Vice President (South), ACCE(I), was the Guest of Honour.
Engineers Are Nation Builders, Says ACCE(I) Chairman
Delivering the welcome address, Bheem Rao Jaligama, Chairman, ACCE(I), paid tribute to Sir M. Visvesvaraya and recalled his contributions to Hyderabad, including the city’s drainage system and projects related to the Musi River.
“He continues to be an inspiration to engineers across generations. We are not merely builders of structures; we are nation-builders,” Jaligama said.
Adepu Kashiram said the engineering profession was evolving rapidly and stressed the need for engineers to continuously update their knowledge and skills. “ACCE(I) is committed to providing a strong professional platform for knowledge-sharing, innovation and collaboration,” he said.
C. Ramesh, Vice Chairman, ACCE(I), said engineering was not limited to designing and constructing physical infrastructure but also involved creating solutions that improve lives and strengthen society. He emphasised continuous learning, emerging technologies and professional integrity.
The event was attended by ACCE(I) Hyderabad Centre office-bearers, including Bheem Rao Jaligama, Chairman; C. Ramesh, Vice Chairman; D. S. Jaya Prakash, Secretary; Rudra Amarnath Babu, Treasurer; and S. Mahender Reddy, Immediate Past Chairman and GC Member.
The celebrations also featured the Eminent Engineer Awards, recognising distinguished professionals for their contributions to the engineering profession and infrastructure sector. The awardees included D. Putarayya, V. Vinod Bhargava, Prof. P. Sreenivas Sarma and Dr. Mallika Alapati.
The National Eminent Engineer Award was conferred on V. V. Krishna Reddy for his contributions and service to the engineering fraternity.
During the programme, ACCE(I) unveiled the brochure and opened registration for RIDES 2026, scheduled for November. The conference will feature 12 sessions with national and international speakers covering resilient infrastructure, innovation, design, engineering, sustainable practices, contemporary developments, knowledge sharing, professional networking and emerging challenges in civil engineering. The celebrations were organised with support from Sarwottam TMT and Adani Cement.
