Hyderabad, Jan 10 (Maxim News): Those going to distant places for the Sankranti festival are facing a situation where they have to pay exorbitant rates even if they get seats in private travel companies.

Moreover, since it takes about 10 to 14 hours to travel by train and bus, some are turning their attention to flights.

Those who are going on the 13th, instead of the 10th, 11th, and 12th which are in high demand, are choosing flights to travel to their hometowns within 1-2 hours. Flight tickets to go from Hyderabad to Vizag on the 13th are available from Rs. 5,000

However, if you want to travel in AC sleeper buses a day before (on the 12th), you will have to spend Rs. 6,000 to Rs. 7,000. Private travel operators are cashing in on the Sankranti demand by setting rates depending on the seat.

Vizag is not the only one. Flight ticket prices for places like Rajahmundry, Tirupati, Vijayawada, and Bangalore are also appearing low on the respective websites.

Travel experts suggest that if those going to the festival plan properly, they can travel by plane with the same charges as those spent on an AC sleeper bus. (Maxim News)
