Amit Shah Predicts NDA Win With Over 90 Seats In Assam

Hyderabad, March 29: Amit Shah predicts NDA win with over 90 seats in Assam as he launched a campaign visit in Guwahati. He said the alliance will return to power for a third term in the 126 member assembly.

Shah began his two day visit with a roadshow in Guwahati. He said people are eager to form the NDA government again. Therefore, he expressed confidence of crossing 90 seats.

He said Assam has seen major progress under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Moreover, he added that infrastructure has improved across sectors.

He said extremism and violence have stopped in the state. In addition, he noted that health infrastructure continues to expand. He also said Assam has emerged as a hub for health and education in the Northeast.

Shah said new employment opportunities have increased in recent years. Further, he added that modern industries, including semiconductor units, are being set up.

In the outgoing assembly, BJP holds 64 seats. Its allies AGP have nine seats, UPPL seven, and BPF three. Meanwhile, Congress has 26 seats, AIUDF 15, and CPI M one. One Independent member is also present.

Shah held the roadshow in support of multiple candidates. These include Himanta Biswa Sarma, Vijay Kumar Gupta, Diplu Ranjan Sarmah, Pradyut Bordoloi, and Tapan Das. However, Sarma did not join the roadshow.

The roadshow covered about two km in Guwahati. It began at Arya Vidyapeeth College and ended at Nepali Mandir. Supporters gathered along the route and welcomed Shah.

He arrived in the evening and will address election rallies. He will also meet party leaders during the visit. Polling will take place on April 9. Counting will follow on May 4.
