Hyderabad, April 30: Another weaver suicide in Siricilla was reported after a 48 year old man died due to financial distress and prolonged illness.
The incident occurred in Rajanna Siricilla district, raising concerns over the condition of handloom workers.
Weaver Suicide In Siricilla Highlights Distress
According to police, Gajula Srinivas from Ananthanagar had been struggling to sustain his livelihood.
He had been unable to work regularly for over two years after suffering a hip injury.
Family members said he had accumulated debts of around Rs 4 lakh.
Despite recovery, he could not resume stable work on the weaving loom.
The family depended on limited income, with his wife rolling beedis and his son working at a car wash.
His daughter is currently pursuing a degree.
Due to mounting financial pressure and mental stress, Srinivas consumed a chemical used in the dye industry at his residence.
Family members rushed him to the Siricilla Government Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Police registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident.
Officials said the case is being probed from all angles.
