Hyderabad, April 30: Ramakrishna Rao appeared before the Telangana High Court on Wednesday in connection with a contempt of court case.
The case relates to non implementation of earlier court orders on payment of minimum wages.
Contempt Case Over Minimum Wages Order
The petition was filed by two part time sweepers from the Irrigation Department in Suryapet district.
They approached the High Court in 2018 seeking minimum wages along with increments.
In 2023, the court directed the government to pay minimum wages to the petitioners.
However, as the orders were not implemented, the petitioners filed a contempt of court case.
Justice E V Venugopal heard the matter and expressed dissatisfaction over non compliance.
The court directed the then Principal Secretary of the Finance Department, now Chief Secretary, to appear in person.
Following the direction, Ramakrishna Rao appeared before the court on Wednesday.
The hearing of the contempt petition was subsequently concluded.
