Skal International Hyderabad Elects New President

Hyderabad, Sept. 14: Dr Valmiki Hari Kishan has been elected President of Skal International Hyderabad 606 Chapter for the 2026 to 2028 term.

A veteran travel professional, Dr Hari Kishan secured the highest majority in the election. He thanked members for placing their confidence in his leadership.

The chapter also elected its new board for the two year term. Pankaj Sampath will serve as Vice President 1, while Rubin Cherian will serve as Vice President 2.

Earnest Immanuel will take charge as Secretary. Ravi Agarwal will serve as Treasurer. Ramakrishna will oversee Membership Development as Director.

Srinivas will serve as Director for Public Relations and Communication. Mohan Krishna will lead Young Skal initiatives as Director.

Dr Hari Kishan said leading the Hyderabad chapter carries a major responsibility. He also said the new board would work to build on the club’s legacy.

“Our club has created history and achieved several milestones. Therefore, the responsibility on the new Board is even greater,” Dr Valmiki said.

Skal International Hyderabad Sets New Priorities

The new board will focus on membership growth, communication and professional networking. It will also promote Young Skal initiatives and wider participation in international Skal programmes.

Dr Hari Kishan said the board would work collectively to strengthen member engagement. He also highlighted the importance of professional relationships across the travel and tourism sector.

Skal International Hyderabad has several notable milestones in its history. The chapter hosted the Skal International World Congress in 2017.

The Hyderabad club also has a major distinction within Skal International. It has produced the first Indian World President of the organisation.

The incoming global president is scheduled to take charge at the 85th Skal World Congress. The event will take place later this year in Nelson Mandela Bay, South Africa.

The development will mark another important milestone for the Hyderabad chapter. It will also strengthen the city’s presence within the global tourism network.

Skal International Hyderabad Builds Global Tourism Links

Skal International connects professionals from different sectors of the global travel and tourism industry. Its core objectives include promoting tourism, friendship and professional cooperation.

The organisation began in Paris in 1932. Travel managers formed the group after an educational tour of Scandinavia.

Skal International became a formal international association in 1934. Today, it brings together about 12,500 tourism professionals through more than 290 clubs across over 75 countries.

Its General Secretariat operates from Málaga, Spain. The organisation follows the motto “Doing Business Among Friends.”

Skal provides members with opportunities to build professional relationships and business networks. These connections operate at local, national and international levels.

The organisation also holds affiliated membership with UN Tourism. It supports principles linked to sustainable, accessible and responsible tourism.

In India, Skal International India has more than 20 regional clubs and over 1,400 members. Its membership covers hospitality, aviation, travel agencies, tour operators, tourism boards and government bodies.

The new Hyderabad board will now begin its 2026 to 2028 term. Its priorities will include stronger membership, communication, networking and youth participation across the tourism sector.
