AP Governor Participates in 3rd Convocation on Rayalaseema University

Vijayawada, May 21 (Maxim News): Andhra Pradesh Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan today participated in the third Convocation of the Rayalaseema University, Kurnool, in virtual mode from Raj Bhavan here on Saturday.

Delivering the Convocation address, Governor Harichandan said education plays a vital role in the development of any nation and the students of this generation were fortunate that the 34-year-old education system has undergone a major reform with the introduction of National Educational Policy 2020.

He said the policy built on the pillars of Access, Equity, Quality, Affordability and Accountability aims to transform India into a vibrant knowledge society and a global knowledge superpower. He also said the NEP 2020 is more holistic, inclusive, flexible, and its multidisciplinary approach is suited to 21st century needs.

The Governor congratulated the students, who received gold medals and the students who received graduate and post-graduate degrees and the research scholars, who received their Ph.D. degrees at the Convocation.

Prof. Basuthkar Jagadeeshwar Rao, Vice-Chancellor, University of Hyderabad, participated as chief guest-cum-orator at the Convocation. Patibandla Ananda Rao, dramatist, writer, novelist, director and actor, Prof. Kolakaluri Enoch, former Vice Chancellor of Sri Venkateswara University and Peddireddy Dastagiri Reddy, Chairman, Guru Raghavendra Educational Institutions, have been conferred the Degree of Honoris Causa by the University.

Prof. A. Ananda Rao, Vice Chancellor of Rayalaseema University, presented the annual report of the University. Dr Y. Raghunatha Reddy and Dr V. Ravi Sankar felicitated Governor Harichandan with a shawl and memento. R.P. Sisodia, Special Chief Secretary to Governor and other officers of Raj Bhavan also attended the Convocation from Raj Bhavan. (Maxim News)
