An Iran suicide boat attack on an oil tanker near Iraqi waters has resulted in the death of an Indian national. The attack targeted the oil tanker Safety Vishnu and took place near the Khor Al Zubair port. Authorities reported that the strike involved an underwater drone used as a suicide boat.

The incident occurred amid heightened tensions in the region. Iran had earlier warned that it would blow up any oil tanker passing through the Strait of Hormuz. Meanwhile, the latest attack has raised concerns about the safety of shipping routes and crew members operating in the Persian Gulf region.

According to available information, Iran carried out the attack on the oil tanker Safety Vishnu near Iraqi waters. The vessel belongs to the American based Safety Transport Company. The underwater drone strike caused the death of one Indian national who was on board the ship at the time of the attack.

However, other crew members managed to escape further harm. Reports confirmed that 15 Indian crew members who were on the oil tanker were safely evacuated after the incident. The evacuation helped prevent further casualties following the underwater drone strike.

The Indian Embassy in Baghdad confirmed the development and stated that it is in constant touch with the authorities in Iraq and the Indian sailors. Officials are monitoring the situation while maintaining communication with those involved in the incident.

Meanwhile, Iran has claimed responsibility for the attack. It also stated that it recently carried out underwater drone strikes on two oil tankers in the Persian Gulf region. The ships identified in these attacks were Safety Vishnu and Zephyros.

The attack took place in the broader context of rising tensions across the Middle East. Iran had already warned that ships moving through the Strait of Hormuz could face attacks without its permission. Therefore, the incident has added to growing concerns over maritime security in the region.
