AP registers first omicron variant case

Amaravati, Dec.12 (Maxim News): First Omicron Variant Case | The Andhra Pradesh has registered the first case of omicron variant of Covid virus. The state Medical and Health Department has made an official announcement on the issue.

It said that the omicron variant had infected a 34 year old person from Vizianagaram district of the state. It also said that the person had come to the state from Ireland on November 27,2021 via Mumbai and Visakhapatnam.

The department said that they performed tests on the person at the Vizag airport and found that he was infected with the virus. It said that the samples of the victim were sent to CCMB to find out if it was the omicron virus and added that the tests performed at the and CCMB had found that the victim was infected with the omicron variant of the virus.

First Omicron Variant Case

According to Vizianagaram District medical and health officer, P Ramana Kumari Covid tests were conducted to all 40 primary and secondary contacts of the patients and all of them tested negative, but as a precautionary measure, they were sent to home isolation.

The state government has also said that the victim had not displayed any symptoms of the virus . With the addition of this case, the total number of the cases of the omicron virus has now reached to 34 in the entire country.

The Maharashtra state has registered the highest number (17 cases ) of the covid positive cases of the omicron virus . Following this, the Maharashtra government has imposed section 144 of CrPC for two days in the entire state. (Maxim News)
