Dharmapuri/Hyderabad, Sept 7 (Maxim News): Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, along with Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar, Endowments Commissioner Hanumantha Rao, TSGENCO CMD Varun Reddy and Collector B Satya Prasad, performed Bhumi Pooja for the reconstruction and development works of the historic Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple (Ugra Narasimha Swamy Temple) in Dharmapuri on Sunday.
The State government has sanctioned nearly Rs 200 crore for the comprehensive development and reconstruction of the temple, aiming to provide improved facilities and a better pilgrimage experience for devotees.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhatti Vikramarka said the government was committed to developing Telangana’s historic and spiritual centres and restoring their former glory.
He said the temple’s development, along with improved infrastructure and pilgrim amenities, would be taken up in accordance with the aspirations of devotees. He said the government had allocated Rs 1,000 crore for the development of prominent temples and spiritual centres along the Godavari river basin, from Basara to Bhadrachalam, in view of the upcoming Godavari Pushkarams.
Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar said the reconstruction of the Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple had been a long-standing aspiration of the people of the region. Responding positively to the requests of local people and devotees, the government sanctioned substantial funds for the temple’s development, he said.
Collector B Satya Prasad said the reconstruction works would be executed in a planned manner while maintaining quality standards. Necessary steps were being taken in coordination with the concerned departments to complete the works within the stipulated time.
The Bhumi Pooja was performed as per traditional rituals amid Vedic chants and auspicious musical instruments. Temple development committee members, priests, public representatives, officials, local people and devotees attended the programme. (Maxim News)
