Big Update on PM Kisan Scheme: Centre Clarifies on Removal of Farmers’ Names
Delhi/Hyderabad, Nov 10 (Maxim News): The Central Government has issued a clarification regarding the ongoing reports that lakhs of farmers’ names have been removed from the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM KISAN) scheme.
Launched in 2019, the PM Kisan scheme aims to provide direct financial support to farmers across the country. Under the scheme, the Central Government credits ₹2,000 to farmers’ bank accounts three times a year, amounting to ₹6,000 annually.
However, recent social media campaigns claimed that a large number of farmers were removed from the beneficiary list. Responding to these reports, the Union Agriculture Ministry released an official statement on the PM-KISAN website, providing clarity on the issue.
Centre’s Clarification
According to the statement, several farmers had applied for the scheme in violation of eligibility rules. It was found that in many families, husbands, wives, and children had applied separately, even though the scheme allows benefits for only one member per household.
The government also stated that farmers who purchased agricultural land after February 1, 2019, are not eligible for the scheme. It further explained that a physical verification process is being conducted for farmers whose names were removed.
“If they are found eligible during verification, their names will be reinstated. However, those found ineligible will be permanently excluded from the scheme,” the statement clarified.
21st Installment Update
So far, the Central Government has released 20 installments under the PM Kisan scheme. The 20th installment was credited to farmers’ accounts in August. Beneficiaries are now eagerly awaiting the 21st installment.
Meanwhile, the Centre has released the 21st installment in advance to farmers in Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, considering the crop losses due to heavy rains in those regions.
The next round of payments for other states is expected to follow soon. (Maxim News)
