BJP Demands All-Party Meet On Issues Arising Out Of Lockdown

Hyderabad, April 20 (Maxim News): BJP State President Bandi Sanjay said Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao organize an all-party meeting to discuss various issues that are cropping up due to lockdown clamped to contain Coronavirus. Because of the indifferent attitude of the officials, farmers, migrating labour and the poor are facing hardships in the State following the lockdown.

He criticized that the State government was not taking necessary steps to help the farmers who have incurred heavy loss due to the damage to standing crops with untimely rains that battered the State for the last three days. Many farmers have lost their lives with lightning struck in several districts in the State.

“It is unfortunate that the Cabinet meeting held on Sunday did not discuss the farmers’ issues and untimely rains. The entire country is confined to homes owing to lockdown. There are poor people, who are dependent on their daily wages. It is an inhuman act that the Cabinet instead of discussing on their welfare, it asked the DWACRA women to repay their loans and the people to pay their property tax,” Sanjay said and demanded that the Government must take back its decision.

The BJP State chief expressed concern over ignoring the Panchayat Raj and revenue employees, who are in the forefront in the fight against Coronavirus while announcing incentives. He also found fault with the State government for announcing to impose cut in the pensions during the lockdown period. New issues may be raised with the imposition of cut in the pensions for those who are living with self-respect without depending on others. The sanitary workers are keeping every hamlet and village clean. But it is discouraging that the government did not take any steps for their welfare, he added.

The BJP condemned the indifferent attitude of Chief Minister KCR for ignoring the welfare of building workers who are starving due to lockdown in the State. The Central government has announced certain rules allowing the State governments to extend financial assistance from the building workers relief fund. Accordingly, the Labour Commission has resolved to sanction Rs 1500 to every building worker. The State unit of BJP has criticized the Chief Minister for not responding to the Centre’s directives. Telangana state has a huge number of workers in the construction sector and they are confined to homes without any work, Sanjay said and demanded that the KCR government must take immediate steps to provide Rs 1500 assistance to the building workers as per the decision of the Labour Board.

The Karimnagar MP expressed shock over the abnormal delay in taking field assistants who are serving in the villages into duties. They are ready to work during the hour of crisis and they should be taken into service immediately.

BJP State president also demanded that the government must call for an all-party meeting to face the period of catastrophe. (Maxim News)
