Bonalu Start At Jagadamba Temple Atop Golconda Fort

Hyderabad, July 4 (Maxim News): The annual Bonalu festival began in the twin cities on Thursday on a grand scale. Ministers Talasani Srinivas Yadav and A Indrakaran Reddy participated in the festival at Golconda fort along with a large number of devotees.

The ministers offered gold, silver bonams and silk clothes to Goddess Jagadamba atop the fort on behalf of the state government. The ministers also participated in special pujas performed on the occasion followed by a procession of Ghatam from the old city.

Speaking on the occasion, Srinivas Yadav appealed to all citizens to participate in the festivities. Irrespective of caste and religion, all people should participate and celebrate the great tradition, he said. If any problems are there, we will sit across the table and find out a solution, he said and asked the political parties to attend the Bonalu. He said the State government made all arrangements for the State festival. He also appreciated all the departments for coordination and providing adequate facilities for the Bonalu festival.

Endowments Minister Indrakaran Reddy said the State government spent Rs 15 crore for 2,257 temples across the State for the purpose and Golconda temple alone got Rs 10 lakh. “We prayed with the goddess to bless the State to develop consistently and all people lead better lives”, he said. The Bonalu festival is scheduled to be celebrated in Secunderabad on July 21 and in old city on July 28, the minister said and appealed to the people to participate in the Bonalu to mark the tradition.
