According to reports, the change in the Mayor’s candidate appears to have triggered the move. Initially, the BRS decided to support the election when the name of independent candidate S Komuraiah was proposed for the Mayor’s post. Later, the situation changed suddenly.

Congress Changes Candidate Before Karimnagar Mayor Voting

On Sunday night, the name of Congress corporator Mallikarjuna Rajender came to the fore. The Congress party reportedly changed its Mayor candidate. As a result, the BRS became upset over the ruling party’s decision. Therefore, the party chose to stay away from the Karimnagar Mayor voting.

In the recent municipal elections, BRS won nine corporators. Meanwhile, the total strength of the Karimnagar Municipal Corporation stands at 66 divisions. BJP won 30 corporators. Congress secured 14 seats. BRS got nine, while Independents won 10. MIM secured three divisions.

To capture the Mayor’s post, a party needs 34 corporators. At present, no single group has complete strength. Although 34 is required, it is also said that 35 is the magic figure to secure the Mayor post.
