Hyderabad, May 22: Former minister and senior BRS leader T. Harish Rao said the proposed Future City project undertaken by the Telangana government would be cancelled once the BRS returns to power.
Speaking during his visit to the United States, Harish Rao criticised the Congress government over the Future City project and alleged that it was deviating from the original Pharma City plan approved by the Centre.
He stated that the Union Environment Ministry had granted permission only for Pharma City and claimed that any deviation from the approved project would require farmers’ lands to be returned as per law.
Harish Rao Alleges Real Estate Motive Behind Future City
Harish Rao accused the Congress government led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of turning the project into a real estate venture in the name of Future City.
He alleged that while the original plan proposed 75 percent of the land for Pharma City development and 25 percent for supporting infrastructure, the present government was allegedly reversing the ratio for commercial purposes.
According to Harish Rao, the BRS government had initiated Pharma City to generate employment opportunities and ensure industrial development in the region.
He claimed that the Congress government was attempting to alter the project to prevent BRS from receiving political credit for Pharma City.
The former minister asserted that the Future City project would be scrapped if BRS comes back to power and the original Pharma City proposal would be restored.
He also alleged that the government had failed to make significant progress in the last two-and-a-half years and was focusing more on land-related interests rather than industrial development.
