Hyderabad, July 12: Senior BRS leader and Siddipet MLA Tannir Harish Rao expressed confidence that the party will return to power in the next Telangana Assembly elections. He urged party workers to remain alert during the SIR process, claiming it could influence election outcomes if not closely monitored.
Harish Rao addressed a BRS awareness meeting on the SIR process and party membership registration at the GMR Convention Hall in Patancheru. MLAs Gudem Mahipal Reddy, BRS leader Errolla Srinivas, and party workers attended the programme.
Harish Rao alleged that concerns had been raised over the SIR process in West Bengal, Assam, and Tamil Nadu. Therefore, he asked BRS leaders, especially aspirants for the upcoming GHMC elections, to treat voter verification as a top priority.
He claimed public opinion in Telangana was shifting in favour of the BRS. Moreover, he said people wanted a government focused on welfare instead of what he described as a government of scams.
Calling Patancheru a strong BRS bastion, Harish Rao recalled that the party won five municipal chairman posts in the previous local body elections. He added that the performance of Patancheru would attract attention across Telangana.
The former minister accused the state government of selling government land worth thousands of crores. He also alleged that several welfare schemes introduced during the BRS government had been neglected. In addition, he claimed there were delays in implementing schemes such as Kalyana Lakshmi.
Harish Rao further alleged that the government was spending funds on the Musi beautification project and other initiatives while citing a lack of funds for welfare programmes. He also claimed that no government compensation had been provided to families affected by the Sigachi industry accident, alleging that the company management paid the compensation.
He criticised the government for allegedly selling land earmarked for an IT park in Patancheru. He also claimed that uninterrupted power supply during the BRS government had deteriorated and alleged that a hospital built during the KCR government was yet to become operational.
Concluding his address, Harish Rao said the BRS would win all Assembly seats in the undivided Medak district. He also claimed that while Chief Minister Revanth Reddy was predicting victory in 117 seats, the Congress would not win more than nine seats.
