Hyderabad: Cattle smuggling probe has begun after a van carrying livestock overturned in Hayathnagar on the city outskirts late Tuesday night. Police suspect illegal transportation following the incident. The accident brought attention to possible unlawful cattle movement in the area.

According to police, the mishap took place near the Hayathnagar police station U turn. The vehicle was reportedly moving at high speed when the driver lost control. As a result, the van overturned by the roadside. Meanwhile, local residents quickly rushed to the spot and noticed animals trapped inside the vehicle.

The van was carrying 12 animals, including eight bulls and four cows. During the accident, two bulls and one cow suffered injuries. However, the remaining livestock were reported to be safe. Therefore, immediate rescue efforts became a priority for both locals and authorities.

With the help of residents, police rescued the animals from the overturned vehicle. They later shifted the injured and rescued livestock to a cow shelter in Abdullapurmet. Officials said the animals are receiving treatment at the shelter. Also, authorities ensured the safety of the remaining animals.

However, the driver fled the scene immediately after the accident. This raised strong suspicion of illegal cattle transportation. Police believe the sudden escape indicates possible involvement in unlawful activity. Therefore, they have launched a search operation to trace the absconding driver.

Meanwhile, police are also investigating the network behind the suspected cattle movement. The focus remains on identifying those involved in transporting the animals. Further developments are expected as the probe continues.
