Hyderabad, April 15: K. Kavitha led a protest in Vikarabad against land acquisition for the Parigi Industrial Corridor. She accused the Congress government of forceful land grab affecting farmers.
Kavitha said the policy threatens livelihoods of small and marginal farmers. She alleged that the government is acquiring land under the pretext of development. According to her, farmers in several villages are facing distress.
She claimed large scale acquisition is underway in Kallapur, Rapole, and Bhatla Chandaram. She said most affected lands belong to SC, ST, and BC farmers. Therefore, she accused the government of targeting vulnerable groups.

Kavitha criticised the government’s handling of farmer issues. She cited concerns such as Rythu Bharosa, loan waivers, urea supply, and MSP. She said these issues remain unresolved.
She also questioned environmental policies linked to industrial plans. She pointed out concerns over proposed industries near the Musi River. As a result, she called for a review of such decisions.
Kavitha said farmers are unwilling to part with their land. However, she alleged that acquisition is being pushed without consent. She insisted that officials must engage directly with affected families.
She said the protest would continue until the district administration responds. She criticised the Collector for not giving clear assurances. She termed the response inadequate.
Police detained Kavitha and Visharadhan during the protest. They were shifted to a local police station. Tensions rose as protesters resisted the action.
Reports said media personnel were also manhandled during the protest. Cameras were allegedly seized by police. The incident drew criticism from protest leaders.
Kavitha also spoke on national issues during the protest. She raised concerns over proposed delimitation. She said southern States should not lose representation based on population criteria.
She added that Telangana’s share in Parliament must not decline. She warned that such measures could impact federal balance. She said her organisation will continue to support farmers.
