Central Health Ministry Orders Hospitals To File Cases Within 6 Hours Of Any Attack
Delhi/Hyderabad, Aug 16 (Maxim News): Some thugs vandalized the Aji Kar Hospital as the protests against the West Bengal murder incident turned violent. This has been taken seriously by the Union Health Department.
In this context, instructions were given to all government hospitals on Friday. It said that the police should file a case within six hours of the attack on the hospital premises or the staff and health workers. It has been clarified that if the complaint is not received within the stipulated time, the head of the concerned hospital will be responsible for it.
It has come to our attention that attacks on doctors and other medical staff are common in government hospitals. Many staff members were subjected to physical violence as part of their duties. Others received threats. Most of those are encountered by the patient or those accompanying the patient.
Taking this into consideration, we have given instructions to the hospitals. If a medical staff faces violence while on duty, the head of the hospital should file a complaint with the police within six hours, the center disclosed.
Recently, a Junior Doctor was murdered in Aji Kar Hospital in Bengal. The Hospital was attacked during the protests. Masked vandals attacked the hospital premises with sticks, bricks and rods. The emergency room, nursing station, drug store, outpatient department (OPD) along with CCTVs were destroyed.
BJP has criticized Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee sent Trinamool goons to the hospital so that the CBI could not get the evidence. Didi denied the allegations against her. She countered that many political parties are behind the attacks. She said that she has no complaint with the protesting students and doctors, but some political parties are causing trouble. On the other hand, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) strongly condemned the attacks on the hospital. The Calcutta High Court also expressed anger over this vandalism. In the wake of these developments, the Center has issued orders. (Maxim News)
