New Delhi, June 22: The Centre on Monday announced the Haj Policy 2027 and opened applications for Indian pilgrims planning to undertake Haj next year.
Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju released the policy and announced that applications would be accepted through the Haj application process starting immediately.
Pilgrims can apply online through Haj Committee of India and the Haj Suvidha mobile application.
Haj Policy 2027 Focuses on Technology and Pilgrim Support
According to the policy, the quota distribution will continue in the 70:30 ratio between the Haj Committee of India and the private sector. The allocation includes 1,22,518 seats under the Haj Committee and 52,507 seats for private operators.
The government also stated that it will seek a higher Haj quota for Indian pilgrims beyond last year’s allocation of 1,75,025 seats.
The policy continues several measures introduced during Haj 2026. These include sofa beds in Mina, hotel style accommodation in Mecca and the 20 day Short Haj Package.
Authorities retained the Short Haj Package and added Kolkata as a new embarkation point following demand from pilgrims.
The policy also increases field support by improving the State Haj Inspector ratio from one inspector per 150 pilgrims to one per 135 pilgrims.
Preference in allotment will be given to the top 20 percent of final waitlisted applicants from Haj 2026.
Medical screening norms will align with Saudi health requirements. The government said stricter checks will apply to applicants with chronic health conditions to prioritise pilgrim safety.
The ministry also proposed phased introduction of artificial intelligence tools for document verification, grievance management and flight planning.
A multilingual AI support system in Hindi, Urdu and regional languages is planned to assist pilgrims with applications, payments, accommodation, travel information and emergency support.
The system is also expected to integrate with Saudi Arabia’s Nusuk platform to improve coordination and provide real time information throughout the pilgrimage journey.
The government urged eligible applicants to complete registration within the prescribed timelines and reiterated its commitment to a safe, transparent and dignified Haj experience.
