Hyderabad, June 16: Union Minister Kishan Reddy said the Centre remains committed to Telangana’s development and rejected criticism from Chief Minister Revanth Reddy over Metro Rail expansion and central support to the state.
Addressing the media in Delhi, Kishan Reddy said the Union government supports Hyderabad Metro just as it supports metro rail projects across India. He said projects move forward when state governments cooperate on technical and financial matters.
Responding to allegations made by the Chief Minister, he said the Centre had suggested several changes regarding the metro proposal and denied claims that the BJP obstructs development projects.
He said the BJP does not stop projects for political reasons and added that only cooperation can accelerate infrastructure growth.
Centre Defends Telangana Development Record
Kishan Reddy said the Centre had sanctioned Rs 1,250 crore for Hyderabad Metro Phase 1 and maintained that the Union government remains accountable only to the people of Telangana.
He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Centre do not require certificates from political opponents to prove their contribution to development.
Referring to election commitments, he stated that the government continues implementing its promises and will maintain its focus on Telangana’s growth.
Speaking about his political background, Kishan Reddy said he actively participated in the Telangana statehood movement. He recalled joining protests in Delhi and supporting the demand for a separate state.
He also said he had written to both former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and current Chief Minister Revanth Reddy regarding railway station development.
According to him, the Centre took responsibility for modernising railway infrastructure even when state cooperation was limited.
Kishan Reddy said MMTS Phase 2 faced delays earlier but later progressed under central support. He added that Telangana also received support for railway manufacturing initiatives.
The Union Minister further stated that the Centre recently approved long term interest free loans to the state and issued an NOC for the Musi revival project supported by multilateral funding.
He said Telangana received financial support through multiple central channels, including NCDC assistance and grain procurement funding.
He added that the Centre had sanctioned Rs 37,000 crore for grain procurement and already released Rs 34,000 crore.
