Hyderabad, June 6: The Chandrayangutta police have registered a case against an auto rickshaw driver for allegedly carrying 14 passengers in an overloaded vehicle, endangering the safety of commuters.
The action was taken after a video of the overcrowded auto circulated on social media.

Police identified the driver as Mohd Habeeb Khan, a resident of Pahadi Shareef.
According to police, the incident occurred two days ago when the driver was transporting 14 passengers in a single auto rickshaw. Some passengers were reportedly seen hanging from the vehicle while it was in motion.
Concerned road users recorded videos of the overloaded vehicle and shared them on social media platforms. The footage subsequently came to the attention of the police.
After verifying the video, Chandrayangutta police registered a case against the driver for violating traffic and public safety regulations.
The case was booked under Section 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deals with rash or negligent acts endangering human life or personal safety, and Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act relating to dangerous driving.
Police officials reiterated that overloading passenger vehicles poses serious risks to public safety and warned that strict action would be taken against violators.
Authorities also urged motorists and public transport operators to follow traffic rules and ensure passenger safety at all times.
