CMRS Issues Safety Certificate For JBS-MGBS Metro Corridor-II

Hyderabad, Jan.12 (Maxim News): Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) JK Garg inspected JBS-MGBS Metro Corridor-II along with HMRL MD NVS Reddy and senior engineers and technical experts of L&Tmrhl and independent engineer Louis Berger over the past three days and issued the mandatory Safety Certificate.

After examining the corridor, safety certification of the 25kV overhead electrical traction and other electrical installations by CEIG (Chief Electrical Inspector General), Fire clearance of nine stations of the corridor by DG, Fire Services, Signaling & Train Control Systems by Thales, Canada, Internal Safety Assessment by Halcrow, UK, the results of the tests of various technical parameters during the trial runs, CMRS thoroughly inspected the corridor and the inspection broadly covered all safety tests related to viaduct, track, signaling, telecom, trains and electric traction system; Speed trials at high speed to check train behaviour; Station structures, lifts and escalators, entry/exit points, ticketing systems, control rooms and passenger amenities; Checking of Bhoiguda Metro ROB, bearings, viaduct; Track parameters and OHE parameters; Oscillograph tests to measure train acceleration values, ride quality and ride index and so on.

L&Tmrhl MD KVB Reddy, chief operating officer AK Saini, Project Director MP Naidu, Louis Berger, Team Leader Krishna Swamy, HMRL CPM Anand Mohan and other senior engineers and officers of all the organizations participated in the inspection deliberations.

The Safety Certificate issued by CMRS has cleared the way for introduction of passenger services on the last corridor of Hyderabad metro rail project phase-I. The corridor with a length of 11km has nine stations — JBS-Parade grounds, Secunderabad West, Gandhi Hospital, Musheerabad, RTC Crossroads, Chikkadpally, Narayanguda, Sultan Bazaar and MGBS.

Receiving the Safety Certificate from CMRS, Garg, HMRL MD NVS Reddy said the State government would decide the date of inauguration soon. (Maxim News)
