Delhi/Hyderabad, Sept 19 (Maxim News): Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud said the Congress government is committed to investigating land issues linked to former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s family.
Speaking to ABN in Delhi on Saturday, Goud said officials were continuing their inquiry into the land issue. He questioned how hundreds of acres allegedly came into the possession of KCR’s family and challenged them to produce documents if the lands were legally theirs.
Goud said the Congress government’s focus was on providing houses to poor and Dalit families under the Indiramma housing programme. He also rejected criticism over the 22A prohibited land list, alleging that opposition parties were spreading misinformation about the issue.
Mahesh Goud Targets BRS Over Defections and Janwada Farmhouse
Goud said he had written to the CBI seeking an investigation into the Kaleshwaram project and questioned Union Ministers G. Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay over the matter.
Reacting to the Telangana High Court’s recent verdict disqualifying Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender, Goud said the judgment had implications for the political debate over defections. The High Court set aside the Assembly Speaker’s decision and declared the Khairatabad seat vacant after finding Nagender disqualified under the anti-defection law.
Goud said Congress was prepared for the Khairatabad by-election and that the party high command would decide its candidate. He also defended Congress leaders against criticism over defections, alleging that BRS had earlier inducted leaders from other parties and given them ministerial positions.
On the Janwada farmhouse controversy, Goud alleged that BRS leaders were attempting to divert attention from questions surrounding the property. He said the Congress government had no intention of taking over KCR’s farmhouse and maintained that his own assets were open to scrutiny.
Goud also said pending appointments to DCCs, corporations and other party posts would be completed by the end of September. He participated in the Maha Ganapati puja at Telangana Bhavan in Delhi and offered prayers for the prosperity of Telangana’s farmers and the progress of the State.
