Internet/Hyderabad, Sept 19 (Maxim News): Prime Minister Narenrda Modi on Saturday inaugurated a two-day international conference on environment and climate at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi.
Titled ‘The Future of Environment and Climate Dynamics’, the conference is being organised by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) on September 19 and 20. Eminent judges and legal representatives from 17 countries, including India, are participating in the event.
Addressing the conference, PM Modi highlighted India’s efforts to address climate challenges. He said the PM Surya Ghar scheme has been successful, with solar panels installed in 50 lakh homes.
PM Modi Highlights India’s Climate and Renewable Energy Efforts
PM Modi said India is working towards providing solutions to modern climate challenges. He also highlighted the country’s transition towards electric vehicles and referred to developments in India’s transport sector.
The Prime Minister said developing countries are being unnecessarily blamed for carbon emissions. He claimed that the per capita carbon emissions of developed countries are six times higher than those of India.
The international conference will deliberate on environmental and climate challenges facing countries across the world. Discussions will also focus on gaps in the design, implementation and monitoring of environmental policies.
Representatives from participating countries are expected to share experiences and best practices in environmental governance. Technical sessions are being held on climate justice, biodiversity, environmental laws, renewable energy, forest conservation and environmental governance.
