Congress leaders urge people to end the dictatorial rule of KCR

Hyderabad, March 3: Telangana Congress leaders on Friday urged the people to end the dictatorial rule of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao in the State by bringing the Congress party to power in the next leaders.

The Congress leaders were speaking at a meeting after participating in the Haath Se Haath Jodo Yatra, organized by AICC Programmes Implementation Committee Chairman Alleti Maheshwar Reddy, in the Bhainsa town of Nirmal district.

The padayatra began at Shivaji Chowk and ended at the Ambedkar Statue in Bhainsa, with hundreds of people joining and thousands lining the yatra route. Senior leaders including Nalgonda MP Capt N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikaramarka, former Deputy CM Damodar Raja Narasimha, MLC Jeevan Reddy, MLA D. Sridhar Babu, and other senior leaders participated in the event.

Addressing the corner meeting, Maheshwar Reddy said that the ‘Haath Se Haath Jodo Yatra’ was being conducted in all Assembly constituencies in Telangana as per the directions of the AICC. He said that the goal of this campaign was to bring the Congress party to power in honor of UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi who granted statehood to Telangana.

Maheshwar Reddy slammed the KCR Govt for neglecting the welfare of all sections of society and all sectors, especially education, and health. He said KCR has turned Telangana, a surplus State into a debt-ridden State by borrowing over Rs. 5 lakh crore loans. He said unemployment was at its peak and KCR Govt did nothing to provide employment.

“KCR came to power on the promise of providing ‘KG to PG’ free education. But under KCR’s regime, there was ‘No KG, No PG’ during the last eight-and-a-half years. KCR Govt has shut down over 4,000 primary schools. It targeted each and every educational institution of repute across Telangana,” he alleged.

Maheshwar Reddy pointed out that the Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies (RGUKT), locally referred to as IIIT Basara, was established during the Congress regime in 2008. But this institution, which serves nearly 8,000 poor students, has been completely neglected by BRS Govt. The University needs at least Rs 100 crore annually for proper functioning. But the BRS Govt kept on reducing its budget every year. It was reduced from Rs. 119.63 crores in 2014-15 to Rs. 50 crore in 2016-17 and further slashed to just Rs. 20.12 crore in 2019-20.

“KCR calls Telangana the richest State in the country. But it is a matter of shame that IIIT Basara students have to sit on a hunger strike for a week to demand proper food,” he said adding that all universities were in extremely bad shape ever since BRS came to power.

Maheshwar Reddy also slammed Mudhole MLA Gaddigari Vittal Reddy for neglecting the people’s welfare. He reminded that Vittal Reddy, who was elected on a Congress ticket, jumped to the TRS in August 2014, betraying the Congress party. “Vittal Reddy first betrayed the Congress party and since then he has been deceiving the people by not resolving their problems,” he said.

He said KCR has disowned ‘Telangana’ after changing his party’s name from TRS to BRS. In the same way, he said people would disown and abandon KCR and BRS in the next elections.

Stating that the Mudhole constituency has been a Congress bastion, he claimed that the party would win the seat in the 2023 Assembly elections.

Addressing the meeting, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the tremendous response to the ‘Haath Se Haath Jodo’ yatra across Telangana State was a clear indication that people have decided to reject both TRS and BJP in the next elections. He said both TRS and BRS have been enacting the dramas of rivalry to keep the people’s attention diverted. However, he said through the ‘Haath Se Haath Jodo’ yatra, the Congress cadre will expose their failures before each citizen of Telangana. “By granting statehood for Telangana, Sonia Gandhi Ji has taught us how dreams are turned into a reality. We will emulate her to turn all the dreams of the people of Telangana into a reality,” he said.

CLP leader Bhatti Vikramarka said that the BJP Govt at the Centre and BRS Govt in Telangana were equally responsible for the rising inflation. People are now recalling the good old days of Congress rule when they got a gas cylinder for Rs. 400 and a liter of petrol for less than Rs. 60. But now they are forced to pay Rs. 1200 for a cylinder and Rs. 110 for petrol. He said that the golden rule of Congress was all set to return in Telangana and also in the country after the next elections. (Maxim News)
