Congress legislators joined TRS only for pecuniary gain, says Uttam

Hyderabad, March 20 (Maxim News): TPCC President N. Uttam Kumar Reddy here on Wednesday said only opportunist leaders of the party were leaving it and joining the TRS for pecuniary gain. He also pointed out that all those who had left the party, had enjoyed plum posts during previous Congress regime.

Addressing mediapersons at Gandhi Bhavan here today, Uttam Kumar said DK Aruna had claimed that she had rejected the BJP offer of contesting in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections as party’s candidate. He alleged that Aruna was giving lame excuses while leaving the party. Uttam said the people in the State would reject these opportunistic leaders in the upcoming elections. He also said they have issued show-cause notices to the defected MLAs of the party.

Commenting on the claims of the defected MLAs, the TPCC chief asked whether the Chief Minster would not develop the Assembly segments represented by the Opposition legislators. He made it clear that the TRS would achieve nothing even if it won 16 Lok Sabha seats in the State. Reiterating that the ruling party had done nothing by having 15 MPs in parliament, Uttam wanted to know whether the people would vote for KCR, who had utterly failed to get the promises made by the Center fulfilled. Stating that the votes cast for TRS would be a colossal waste, the TPCC chief asserted that the Congress would definitely form the government at the Center after the general elections. Uttam also assured the people that the Congress government would accord national status to the Kaleswaram irrigation project besides honoring all promises made in the AP Reorganization Act of 2004. He also promised jobs to the unemployed youth by setting up ITIR project. He alleged that KCR had done nothing but has been supporting the “communal” BJP at the Centre.

Former CLP leader K. Jana Reddy questioned Chief Minister KCR whether he brought even a single development project during the last five years. He said KCR has no moral right to seek votes from people in the upcoming elections. Former ministers Ponnala Laxmaiah alleged that KCR destroyed all moral values in politics. He alleged the CM KCR was killing democracy by encouraging defections of popularly elected MLAs in the State. He said the same people would remove KCR from the political scene as he was trying to eliminate the Opposition parties. He appealed to the people to teach a fitting lesson to KCR for his dictatorial functioning in the upcoming elections and ensure victory of Congress candidates.

Senior Congress leader and Bhongir Lok Sabha candidate Komatireddy Venkat Reddy made it clear that there was no connection between Parliament elections and the State. He alleged that the rule of Prime Minister Narendra Modi was confined to his friends and industrialists in the country. He said Modi had miserably failed to implement even a single promise made by him during the last five years. He said the upcoming elections would be a turning point in the history of the State.
