Corona: Centre Compliments Telangana For Low Case Fatality

Hyderabad: The Union Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba has on Saturday complimented the Telangana government for managing the pandemic well and maintaining low case fatality compared to the national average.

According to an official press release here, the pat on the State’s back came during a video conference of the Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba with Chief Secretaries of twelve states.

The union minister and cabinet secretary enquired about the steps taken by the various states in containing the spread of virus. “The Cabinet Secretary complimented the state for managing the pandemic well and maintaining low case fatality compared with national average,” the press release said.

Ramping up the number of Covid tests and making testing facilities available in large number of locations across the state such as Primary Health Centres, Urban Health Centres and Basthi dawakhanas in the state was also appreciated by the Cabinet Secretary. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar informed that the government was keeping a close watch on the situation and was fully geared up to handle the pandemic, even as the number of positive cases have started declining.

Explaining the various measures taken by the state government, the Chief Secretary said that testing had been ramped up in the state. RTCPR testing was being done on every person who is found symptomatic in a Rapid Antigen Test. The government has formulated a strategy to make all beds equipped with oxygen facilities. Special focus was being laid on managing the situation in the districts, he added. Health Secretary Rizvi, Director Drugs Control Dr Preeti Meena and other health officials attended the conference.
