After examining the submissions, evidence and records presented by both sides, the court dismissed the case and held that the prosecution had not established the allegations against the BJP legislator.

The case dates back to August 2022, when T Raja Singh publicly opposed a proposed performance by stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui in Hyderabad.

During that period, Raja Singh uploaded a video on YouTube expressing objections to the event. The video generated widespread public and political reactions and led to complaints being filed at multiple police stations alleging that the remarks promoted communal disharmony.

Based on the complaints, a case was registered at Mangalhat Police Station under various provisions of the Indian Penal Code, including Sections 153A, 295A, 504, 505(2), and 506.

On August 23, 2022, police arrested Raja Singh and produced him before a court. However, the local court declined to grant remand, citing procedural concerns regarding the arrest process, following which he was released.

Subsequently, amid protests and concerns regarding law and order, the police invoked preventive detention provisions against him. Raja Singh remained in custody for a period of 77 days.

With the latest judgment, the proceedings in the 2022 case before the Special Court have concluded in his favour.
