COVID-19: GHMC teams spray disinfectant in different parts of Hyderabad

Continuing the sanitation measures and helping in the fight against the coronavirus, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) teams carried out disinfectant spraying in different parts of the city on Wednesday.

The extensive measures today saw 125 units of the civic body’s entomology wing comprising 2,375 workers fanning out and taking up the spraying operations. All the quarantine centres, community health centres, urban primary health centres were covered today.

In areas of the city from where the coronavirus positive cases were reported, the exercise of spraying disinfectants was being carried out multiple times as a precautionary measure.

The teams have been equipped with 1,000 power sprayers and 63 VMF big sprayers and using VFM sprayers, almost 15 kms of spraying was being done every day, officials said. To cover the affected areas, 305 portable sprayers were put into use.

Beginning March 22, teams till April 1 have covered 5,724 areas for spraying of Sodium Hypochlorite. The disinfectant spraying operations are being monitored by three senior and 15 assistant entomologists, a press release issued by the GHMC said.
